Buddhist Study Program

Weekly Virtual Classes with JoAnn Fox

How the Study Program Works

Basic Overview

Our Buddhist Study program that meets on Saturdays via Zoom with the teacher, JoAnn Fox. JoAnn is a Buddhist teacher with over 20 years of experience. With humor and practical wisdom, JoAnn makes learning joyful and practical. Connect with our global sangha for group discussion as the end of class. The program covers all the teachings of the Buddhist path, according to the Mahayana tradition. Subjects are covered deeply and in order.

You can join anytime! Wherever you begin, we’ll eventually circle back to the program’s beginning with Buddha’s first teachings. You can also take breaks from the study program or leave whenever you wish. If you can’t attend the live Zoom classes, participate by watching the recorded classes.

Each one-hour virtual class includes:

  • optional reading material
  • a teaching on the subject
  • guided meditation
  • a mindfulness practice for daily life
  • group discussion (optional and after class)

  Meet the Teacher

JoAnn Fox has been teaching Buddhism for over 20 years. JoAnn studied Buddhism in a traditional way, in a structured study program. She has studied many of the great works of the Tibetan Mahayana lineage, but tries to convey the teachings in a modern and simple way. She is known for her humor and making complex subjects understandable and applicable to daily life.  She believes the most important thing is not knowledge of the Buddha’s teachings, but to practice. She emphasizes being patient and kind with oneself, while trying to practice. Transformation of the mind is possible. Someone who is often sad can become happy much of the time. Someone who has a lot of anxiety can become calm. Wherever you are on the path, you are are perfect–-and you can also change.
